Biography
I am grateful to my dad who first handed me a golf club when I was 7 years old. Golf has given me the opportunity to establish lifelong friendships, to spend quality time with my family, to develop a strong work and business ethic, to meet people from all walks of life and to challenge myself to always improve.
I grew up in Canberra, joining the Federal Golf Club when I was 11. I practiced before and after school with my two older brothers, who also loved golf. I then joined Royal Canberra at age 14 where I began to focus all my attention on becoming the best golfer I could be.
During my time as an amateur I was selected in many state and national development programs including: The Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, the ACT Academy of Sport and the NSW Institute of Sport. These programs gave me the opportunity to work with elite coaches such as Laurie Montague, Dennis McDade, Alex Mercer, Ross Herbert, Dale Lynch and Peter Knight. My eventual golf mentors were Gary Barter (Head Coach -Australian Golf Club) and Gaylene Clews (Olympic and Professional Codes Performance Psychologist).
By age 22, I reached my goal of No. 1 ranked amateur in Australia and won the 2002 Australian Amateur Championship. It was then that I decided to take the plunge and become a golf professional. I gained my Tour Card for the 2003 Japanese Ladies Tour, where I played professionally for 10 years.
My major Professional tournament achievements include:
- Official Golf World Ranking of 35th in Feb 2011
- Over 100 Top 10 finishes worldwide
- 1st Place FADL Group Ladies Classic 2005
- 1st Place - Suntory Ladies Open 2006
- 1st Place - Fujitsu Ladies Open 2009
- 5th European Tour Order of Merit 2014
- Competed in 3 Women's British Opens & 1 US Ladies Open
I finished my career on the European Tour, before retiring to start a family with my husband, Damon. We now have two young children, Owen 7 and Emily 5. I love being a Mum and although it is certainly very different to tour life, I relish the challenges.
To continue my passion for golf after ending my playing career, I have recently completed my PGA of Australia Golf Coaching Accreditation and TPI level 1. I endeavour to be a passionate, engaging and inspiring golf coach. I look forward to meeting many of you in the future out at Fairbairn and helping you to improve your golf.
